Cleaning the Day’s Catch, San Pedro Town – December 2011

At the end of each fishing day, the guides clean the catch on the dock and feed the fish scraps to the crabs, rays, seagulls, pelicans and frigate birds which quickly gather for the free meal.  All this excitement draws the attention of the local children and any passing tourists to watch the show unfold

The image above was captured with a 24-70mm lens, handheld at 1/800 sec, f4.0, 200 ISO.  Initial processing was in Lightroom 3 with additional modification using the Topaz B&W plug-in.  The antique patina was added to the composition to create a sense of history in this image of daily life in Belize.
